When you are tired it can be difficult to get your brain to focus because there might be a lack of blood flow to your brain. But with a short burst of energy, such as jumping rope for one minute straight or jogging around the block, you can increase your blood flow to your brain and increase the energy you have to sit down and devote yourself to work.

The reason for this is that any more or less will leave you groggy because you will not have achieved a full REM cycle. But if you are able to nap for just 20 minutes you can improve your REM cycle and wake up feeling just as rested as if you had achieved eight hours.
